Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout from Cigar City Brewing to pour at Beau’s Oktoberfest

Award-winning & ultra-rare beer from Florida craft brewery tops list of unique brews to be featured in “Craft Haus” at Beau’s 7th annual Vankleek Hill Oktoberfest

VANKLEEK HILL – (Sept. 25, 2015) Beau’s Brewery announced today that Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout from Cigar City Brewing in Tampa, Florida, will be making its way to the Vankleek Hill Oktoberfest. The award-winning and acclaimed stout, which is brewed only once a year, has only rarely been available in Canada.

Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout will be featured at the “Craft Haus” section of the Oktoberfest, which will be held October 2 & 3 at the fairgrounds in Vankleek Hill. Tickets are still available for Friday (Oct. 2) for those who want to be sure to taste this and other rare and unique beers in Craft Haus – Saturday’s tickets for the event are now completely sold out.

Cigar City Brewing’s Brewmaster Wayne Wambles describes Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout: “The flavor opens with a big blast of chocolate and moderate espresso, with elements of dark toffee and interjecting threads of vanilla… [it has] lingering hints of cinnamon and tobacco and chili notes, with a mild ‘Scoville’ heat in the finish.” The beer is currently rated a perfect 100 on beer review sites BeerAdvocate and RateBeer.

Additional international beer selections on tap at Beau’s Oktoberfest’s Craft Haus include Scotland’s Brewdog Brewery’s Punk IPA; New York-based Ommegang Brewery’s Hennepin Farmhouse Saison; and California brewery Stone Brewing Co.’s Stone IPA. More than 50 different beverages from fellow craft breweries and cideries were brought in by Beau’s Brewery for the event. A number of cask-conditioned ales from Beau’s round out the selection in the Craft Haus. A complete list of Craft Haus selections is available on the Beau’s Oktoberfest website:

Craft beer enthusiasts will also have 14 Beau’s beers to try throughout the tents in the festival, including 4 brand-new recipes for 2015: Return of the Mumme (a medieval “mumme” ale), One Ping Only (a Baltic porter); Universal Gravitation (an apple beer); and Rumtopf (a pale ale blended with rum-soaked fruit).

Tickets are still available for Friday October 2 – Friday’s music line up is headlined by Yukon Blonde in a roster that also includes The Dears, The Pack A.D. and The Elwins. Adult admission to the festival is $27 taxes in; kids passes (18 and under) are $5. As in previous years round-trip bus transportation is available from Ottawa, Cornwall and Montréal, at a cost of $15 per day. Bus travel is recommended as all camping passes for the event are now sold. Tickets can be purchased at
